Getting Started
with cPanel

Adding a Domain to Your Server

Right now (unless you imported some cPanel shared hosting sites), your server is in untouched, pristine condition. Nary a bit is out of place. However it doesn't do much good without your information on it.

cPanel Accounts

What we're going to do now is add an "account," which is what Web Host Manager (WHM) calls each instance of cPanel you create. Each cPanel account has a primary domain name attached to it (hence the name of this section), and that primary domain is what we'll use for your website.

To Create a cPanel Account

  1. From the management interface, next to cPanel Site, click Manage Server (WHM).
  2. Proceed past any security warnings you receive.
  3. Click Account Functions.
  4. Click Create a New Account.
  5. Now, complete all of these fields, and then click Create.

Ignore the section that displays your account's nameservers. You won't use those settings.

We realize that there's a lot stuff here, but most of the settings are fine by default. If you're getting tripped up by something check out cPanel's documentation here.
